2014, A Wine Grower’s Vintage in the Roussillon

Roussillon’s wine growers were lucky to have been the only ones in France to escape hail storms. And, after July’s cool temperatures and rains, the nice weather in the final days of August and the first week of September allowed for good ripening. The quality of the white and rosé wines, both dry and sweet, is excellent: they already show lovely aromas, freshness, harmony and liveliness. The reds, with their very evident fruit notes, show great promise.

At over 23.7 million gallons, the 2014 harvest will most likely be larger than those of the last few years. With quantity and quality both present, the 2014 vintage appears to be a winner.
