Sixth Annual World Grenache Competition held April 12-14, 2018

Held from 11 to 15 April 2018 in the Terra Alta region of South Catalonia, the sixth International Grenache Wines Competition saw the awarding of 259 gold and silver medals, following a blind tasting of 839 wines.

The wines came from France, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Macedonia, Lebanon and Greece were featured. Two morning sessions (4/13 and 4/14), reserved for trade only, saw 100-odd international experts from around the world taste every single wine sample. In addition, the competition offered cellar visits, technical conferences and round tables.

Created by the CIVR in 2013 as the first-ever competition dedicated exclusively to the Grenache grape, the competition will return to its homeland in 2019 with the 7th edition taking place on 17 and 18 April 2019.
